This course is focuses on the young adult preparing for responsibilities in a home, family and work environment. This will include developing and maintaining healthy relationships, and personal growth and development. Course topics will include personal awareness, values, goals, self management, communication, families, crisis management, dating, mate selection, marriage preparation, parenthood, and money management. The student will gain skills for life and employment. This class includes national resources for financial education including NEFE (National Endowment for Financial Education) High School Financial Planning Program. Dating and marriage relationships are studied and this class will also cover basic cooking and sewing skills. This course is recommended for 11th and 12th grade students. Mature sophomores may also benefit from this class by instructor permission.
